Good TV
It’s been two days since the Hollywood writers went on strike. I’m anxious to see what will happen to the TV season and my favorite shows: Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, plus three other favorites that haven’t aired yet this season, 24, Medium and The New Adventures of Old Christine. Hopefully, the strike will be settled soon.
We’ve been in our house for about three years. All of the appliances that came with the house were CHEAP! SORRY! Within the last year, we’ve replaced the dishwasher, refrigerator and washer/dryer because they just stopped working. But that’s okay – they were CHEAP! SORRY! We only have the stove left, and hopefully it won’t blow up.
We replaced the washer/dryer about three weeks ago. Funny thing – the washer stopped working just a few days before Georgia had a sales tax free weekend for all energy star appliances. So we got an LG front loading, energy star steam washer, along with the matching dryer. According to the manufacturer’s spec’s, it should only cost $10 to $14 per year to operate the washer. Plus it only uses about 14 gallons of water per load, compared to 40 gallons for a regular washer. We’re doing our part for the environment!
On the aesthetics side, the washer and dryer are really cool looking, plus the controls are really sophisticated, yet very easy to use. The difference between the old and the new is kind of like going from caveman to Star Trek!
Did I mention they’re front loading? When I ran the first load, I sat down and watched it for a minute. But it operates so differently from a regular machine, I kept watching – and before I knew it, I watched the whole load. I’m ashamed/not ashamed to confess that isn’t the only time I’ve sat down to watch it. In fact, I started a load and told Eric that I was going to go “watch TV.” Every load I start, I’m tempted to watch – at least for a few minutes.
Does that make me old? Senile? No life? I don’t care. I’ve never been so psyched to do laundry – plus the clothes come out really clean and fresh.
So while I hope for a quick resolution to the writer’s strike, thank God for our new LG washer and dryer. Even if I can’t watch my normal shows, I can still watch “Good TV.”
